US Sales of Hybrids Top 25,000 Units in July

Sales of hybrids in the US hit a new high in July, with 25,626 units sold—a 32% increase from July 2005.

Hybrids represented 1.7% of the total new light-duty vehicle market in July 2006.

That's fantastic! After they are more common, maybe the price will come down (and we are no longer buying any oil from the ME) I can get one. That is waiting for to buy another one. I simply refuse to feed a terrorist. :)

Different people support hybrids for different reasons.

My main reason is the reduction of our dependence on foreign oil. Hybrids are 25-35% more efficient and hopefully in a few years we'll see 100MPG hybrids.

Agreed. Would you believe I made this decision in 1994? Yup. I wasn't go to pay over a dollar. My goodness. It's a good thing I got used to take the bus, eh? :)
